Bunso Canopy Walkway under rehabilitation The Canopy Walkway at Bunso Arboretum in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region is to remain closed until it is rehabilitated according to required standard under the supervision of the Institute of Engineers and Ghana Standards Authority. The Eastern Regional Minister, Antwi Boasiako Sekyere announced this when receiving the report of the five-member committee set up to investigate the circumstances that led to the collapse of the walkway on July 1 holiday injuring 20 people. He said doctors are to examine the degree of injury sustained by the victims on that day and calculate it to be paid as compensation to them. Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere asked the Police to continue investigating whether there is any criminal activity in the area. He commended the committee for its work and said the Regional Coordinating Council will study the findings and recommendations and issue a White paper on it to be sent to the appropriate quarters for action. The Chairman of the Committee, ACP James Azumah Abass Abaa said they used interviews to gather information on the cause of the incident as well as the time frame for the work. Other members of the committee were from the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana National Fire Service, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Regional Coordinating Council. GBC
