Abuse of health insurance scheme high - NHIA

The Director of the Claims Processing Centre of the National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby, says waste and abuse of the Insurance Scheme accounts for 20 percent of its income. The nest is used in paying claims.

Dr. Dsane-Selby who took the media round the Claims Processing Centre Accra office at Dzowulu said the establishment of such centres has led to the reduction of claims processing from 90 to 60 days thus saving some money.
