Preparatory Launch Of 40-Year National Development Plan

President John Mahama has launched the process to prepare a 40-year development plan at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The plan will bind governments to a vision lasting till the country attains one hundred years as an independent nation. 

The move, described by the NDPC as ambitious will see deep and broad consultations for at least a year. 

This is not the first time the NDPC has embarked on a national exercise to draw a blueprint for national development. 

President Mahama tasked the NDPC not to repeat the mistakes of vision 2020. 

The General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress, TUC, Kofi Asamoah has welcomed the long term development plan by the National Development Planning Commission and prayed for food security and sustainable energy supply in the next 40 years. 

The TUC envisages improved sanitation, affordable housing and respect for human rights.

The CEO of Ghana Employers Association, Alexander Frempong also called for skills training and quality education for growth and development.

Meanwhile, the National Union of Ghana students, NUGS, has called for mechanisation of Agriculture for food security. 

National Coordinator Paul Walanyo was speaking at the NDPC 40 year launch in Accra.
