African countries charged to build good bio-safety regulatory systems The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, and UEMOA have ended a conference in Cote d'Ivoire that looked at a draft on Regional Bio-safety. The Act which will be binding all member states is to guide countries in dealing with their bio-safety regulations. The Senior Programme Officer in charge of Environmental Safety of the African Bio-safety Network of Expertise, ABNE, Dr. Moussa Savadogo, said African countries need to build good bio-safety regulatory systems in order to embrace biotechnology. Dr. Savadogo was speaking at an International Biosafety Course in Accra. GBC
