Nigerian Army rescues 30 hostages held by Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has rescued 30 hostages held by Boko Haram amid ongoing offensives against the extremists in the Northeast of that country.

They include 21 children, seven elderly women and two men.

Officials say the operation to free the captives took place in the town of Dikwa in Borno State, which was recaptured by Nigerian troops last week.

Eleven Boko Haram militants were killed in the clashes with the military.
