Ghana's 2nd Lady attends Librarians confab in Namibia

Ghana’s Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur has arrived in Windhoek, Namibia to participate in a high level meeting of leaders and emerging leaders from African librarianship.

The Second Lady, a Librarian by profession and former President of Ghana Library Association, is one of only 12 experts invited to participate in the meeting that will deliberate on strategies to include in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) which will replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) which end this year.

Another Ghanaian librarian, Madam Helena Asamoah Hassan is among the 12.

The Librarian of the University of Namibia, UNAM, is hosting the meeting.

Meetings are also scheduled with Namibian First Lady, Monica Geingos and the Minister of Education.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur has appeared on “Good Morning Namibia”, a flagship programme on NBC Television to discuss the importance of Libraries for development. 

Mrs. Amissah-Arthur used the opportunity to meet with some leading Ghanaians resident in Namibia.
