UPP elects Akwasi Addai as flagbearer

The United Progressive Party, UPP, has unanimously elected Akwasi Addai, as its flagbearer for the 2016 general elections. 

Mr Addai, who is the founder of the party, was also endorsed by the delegates as the national chairman of the party.  

At its maiden congress in Kumasi, the one thousand five hundred delegates further endorsed the nomination of other national executive members of the party. 

They are: Alhaji Bashiru Zakari, First National Vice Chairman, Nana Akwasi Prempeh, Second national Vice-Chairman and Anane Kobo, third National Vice-Chairman. 

The rest are Razak Kojo Opoku, General Secretary, Emmanuel Adjei Akrong, National Treasurer, Stephen Kwaku Saahene, National Organiser, Gabriel Asamoah-Boakye, National Youth Organiser and Nana Ama Serwaah Nyarko, National Women's Organiser.  

Mr Addai told GBC’s Radio Ghana that the UPP has come to redeem the country from its present economic woes created by the previous leaders of the country. 

He said Ghanaians are fed up with the NPP and NDC and the UPP is now the third force in Ghanaian politics.
