Importers unlikely to reduce prices of goods 

The Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association, Sampson Asaki, says despite the cedis’ appreciation against the major trading currencies, especially the dollar, importers are not likely to reduce the prices of their goods when they finally arrive. 

He said most of the importers had bought the dollar at a higher rate between the past two and three weeks to settle their duties; and enable them to clear their cargo when it arrives at the Port.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, Mr. Asaki said though the government is helping to sustain the value of the Cedi, importers would hastily reduce the prices of imported goods. 

Mr. Asaki spoke to Edith Eshun. 

He urged consumers to be patient with importers, and hoped the government will be able to help sustain the value of the cedi.
