Illegal structures around GBC flats near Flagstaff house demolished

Illegal structures on a piece of land around the GBC flats leading to the Flagstaff house in Accra were Friday morning demolished. 

The demolition was ordered by the Accra High Court after the squatters took the case to court. 

The exercise was conducted by the Ghana Water Company with Police presence. 

Information gathered indicates that staff of Ghana Water Company who occupy the buildings rented out the land belonging to the Ministry of Works and Housing to non-staff after retiring from Service. 

Some of the affected victims Radio Ghana spoke to said the court injunction being used to execute the exercise is fake.
