Expert disagrees with call to licence political vigilante groups

A Conflict resolution Expert, Dr Ken Ahorsu says he disagrees with the Interior Minister's call that vigilante groups should be licenced to meet the current trend of political disturbances. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Dr Ahorsu said those groups are politically motivated and their trademark is mostly violence. 

He said as election 2016 gradually approaches, what is important is education, sensitisation and training for Ghanaians to be aware of what lies ahead. 

Dr Ahorsu agrees with Former President Rawlings who has called for the prosecution of those involved in the violent actions during the Talensi by-election.

A Presidential Staffer, Dr Clement Apaak, believes licensing vigilante groups can be a realistic approach in dealing with peace and security issues.
