NDPC Briefs President Mahama And Former Presidents On Ghana's Long Term Development Plan 

The Director General of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Dr. Nii Moi Thompson has briefed President Mahama, former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former President Jerry John Rawlings on preparations towards the launching of an exercise in Accra on the 4th of next month to prepare a long term development plan for Ghana.  

During the separate courtesy calls on the 6th and 7th of this month, Dr. Thompson said the long term national development plan which is expected to span forty (40) years will be flexible enough for any government to draw up its own medium-term plan towards achieving the vision and goals of the plan which are based on the Constitution, particularly the Directive Principles of State Policy. 

In a statement, Dr Thompson said the fact that an entire chapter of the Constitution Review Commissions report was devoted to calls by Ghanaians for a long term national development plan means that the country is ready to take a longer view of national development and anticipate and address problems before they occur. 

He presented each President with souvenirs of the Commission’s attempts at re-branding and making itself more visible and accessible to the public. 

The three Presidents expressed appreciation to the Commission for its hard work and advised it to make the preparation of long term development plan as inclusive as possible. 

In his company was the vice chairperson Dr. Esther Odei-Aboagye, Former Deputy Finance Minister under Kufour's administration, Dr. Samuel Nii Noi Ashong among others.
