Task force to probe political vigilante groups 

The Police Service has vowed to take legal action against founders and members of what it describes as illegal security groups within some political parties. 

In a strongly worded statement in the aftermath of the Talensi by-election which was characterised by violence allegedly attributed to vigilante groups within the parties, the police said, they have already established an investigative team to look into the violence.  

The statement signed by the Director-General, DCOP David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, of the Police Public Affairs Directorate, said serious investigations are already underway. 

He said on completion of the investigations, the dockets will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for requisite action.  

DCOP Ampah-Bennin said it is unlawful for political parties, groups, organisations or individuals to encourage the formation of vigilante groups such as the Azorka Boys, Bamba Boys, Invincible Forces and Bolga Bull Dogs.
