8th July, 2015 The Daily Graphic commends the Bank of Ghana, BOG for its progressive work leading to the gradual rebound of the cedi. The Central Bank adopted remedial measures which included increase in dollar sales on the interbank market from a weekly 14 million to a daily 30 million dollars to support the local currency. The Bank is also opening its two year domestic bond auctions to foreign investors this month and reducing borrowing costs. The Graphic calls on all particularly politicians to allow the Central Bank to conduct its operations freely to meet one of its key mandates of exchange rate stability. The Ghanaian Times reminds all users of television set, importers and exporters as well as commercial television users across the country to pay the television licences fees required of them come August 1. The resumption of the payment of the fees is due to a change in the law to increase the fee from as low as GHp 30 to GH¢ 36.00 by a domestic user, while a home with two or more sets would pay GH¢ 60.00. The Paper says the suspension of the fees in 2006 and its resumption this year by the National Media Commission must be an enormous relief to the GBC. The Times is happy that the fee will be a breakthrough to stakeholders in the media industry and asks the public to pay to enable GBC to perform its public service mandate. GBC
