NDC Wins Talensi Parliamentary Seat

The NDC Candidate BT Baba has won the Talensi by-election. 

He polled 10,366 representing 42.31% of the total votes while the NPP’s Wuni Thomas Buanab polled 6,845 representing 27.94%. 

PNC’s Wombeo Namal Teng followed closely with 6,836 representing 27.90% of the total votes.

The Talensi seat became vacant after the incumbent NPP MP, Robert Mosore resigned to take up the position of paramount chief of Tongo. 

B.T Baba aged 67 is a retired Deputy Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service. 

Meanwhile, the Director of Public Relations at the Electoral Commission, Christian Owusu-Parry has attributed the smooth operation of the biometric verification machine to an upgrading of the device. 

In an interview with Radio Ghana, he said the electoral officers followed instructions to change the batteries within the stipulated time. 

Mr Parry described the election as generally successful.
