State Attorneys strike affects court proceedings

The indefinite strike by State Attorneys has had a negative impact on court proceedings. 

The state attorneys have boycotted the courts to express dissatisfaction over their working conditions. 

The strike which started today is in full force, resulting in their failure to be in court for prosecution. Their cases were therefore adjourned to the disappointment of some defence lawyers and accused persons. 

At one of the High Courts in Accra, seven cases being handled by them were all adjourned while at another court, remand prisoners brought for trial were taken away shortly after their arrival because of the absence of the prosecutors. 

The Financial Court also adjourned some cases. 

The attorneys also boycotted the Supreme Court where some civil cases were being heard. Even though the state was a party to the suits, there was no representation in all the cases. This however, did not affect proceedings at the court.
