Voting at Talensi by-election on-going Voting is on-going at the 74 polling stations in Talensi in the Upper East Region to elect a new member of parliament for the constituency after it was declared vacant. At the Tongo Dispensary Centre polling station for instance, at about 7:40am 25 people had cast their votes out of 539 voters. There was a queue at the centre. There were two policemen stationed at the centre with a personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department. Thirty-nine thousand five hundred and twenty-three (39,523) eligible voters in the Talensi constituency are expected to cast their votes in the by-election. The candidates as they appear on the ballot paper are as follows: Joseph Toatoba, Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dennis Atiah Tambil, Independent People's Party (IPP), James Mambora Doubil, New Vision Party (NVP), Benson Tongo Baba, National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Dr Wumbeogo Michael Namalteng, People's National Convention (PNC). The rest are Yaro Bameezina Philip, Ghana Freedom Party (GFP),Isaac Kungarzore, United Progressive Party (UPP) and Wuni Thomas Pearson Duanab, NPP. The seat became vacant after the incumbent MP, Mr Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) resigned to take up the position of a paramount chief of Tongo.
