EC reschedules filling of nomination for district level elections The Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled the filing of nominations for the 2015 District Assembly and Unit Committee elections. The original date for the filing of nominations for the District Assembly elections was July 2 and 3, but it has been moved to July 6 and 7, this year. A statement from the Commission, signed by its Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, Amadu Sulley said nomination for the Unit Committee elections would be taken on Wednesday, July 8 and Thursday July 9. The original date was July 4 and 5. According to the Commission, intensive preparations for the conduct of the parliamentary by-election in the Talensi constituency scheduled for July 7, this year necessitated the rescheduling of filing of nominations. It said, however, that filing of nominations in the Talensi district would take place on Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10, for the District Assembly elections, while nomination for the Unit Committee elections would take place on Monday, July 13 and Tuesday July 14, 2015. Nominations will also be received by the Deputy Returning Officers (Special Duties) at the electoral area centres from 9a.m. to 12 noon and 2pm to 5pm on the said dates. The EC, however, reminds the public that the date for the elections remains Tuesday, September 1, and requested all prospective candidates and the public to take note and comply with the new arrangements.
