Fatal accident on Bolga-Tamale highway record two deaths Two persons have been confirmed dead this morning in a fatal accident on the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway. About 60 passengers including 5 minors sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical attention at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital. The accident which occurred on the Awaara Road in the Talensi District involves a DAF Neoplan Bus with registration number GW 4194 T and a KIA heavy duty truck also with registration number AS 5600-09. Police say personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service had a hectic time rescuing the injured persons. Radio Ghana’s Correspondent Isaac Asare who was at the scene reports that at the time he rushed to the scene, most of the accident victims had been conveyed to the Emergency ward of the Bolgatanga Regional hospital. Narrating the incident, General Corporal John Kwasi Osafo, who was assisting the rescuing team at the scene said one of the passengers in the bus died on the spot while the other died at the hospital on arrival. He indicated that the survival of the most passengers on board the bus was uncertain due to the nature and severity of the accident. An eye witness Asabiya Ayirezoya said the accident occurred around 4:45 am when the KIA truck which was carrying wood and other bags of corn dough and other consumables stopped on the way to pick a camp bed that is believed to have fallen from a different vehicle. According to him, he approached the driver to ascertain whether the bed belonged to him. He said after a healthy engagement with the driver, the Kumasi-Bawku bound bus from nowhere veered off the road and hit the back of the truck forcing to lose control. Meanwhile, the two bodies are yet to be identified. GBC
