GBC Trip To Kintampo Water Falls As part of activities marking Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s 80th Anniversary Celebrations, Radio BAR in Sunyani has organized an excursion to Kintampo Water Falls for staff to have fun and release stress. Forty-five people including the Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the Corporation, Miss Eunice Obeng Yeboah and four GBC Fun Club members were on the trip. The Sunyani GBC team first interacted with the Chief of Kyeremankoma in Kintampo, Nana Effah Guakro and the Chief of the Wangara Community in Kintampo, Nana Fanyinama before going to the falls. At the palace of Nana Effah Guakro, he appealed to GBC to as a matter of urgency, complete the Kintampo Sub-station of the Corporation. He pointed out that Radio BAR’s wider coverage makes it the preferred choice of the people in the Kintampo area and that he was glad to see some workers of GBC in Sunyani visiting him. The Kyeremankomahene pledged the support of Nananom to GBC as it celebrates its 80th anniversary. Nana Guakro and his elders presented a ram and some tubers of yam to the GBC team as part of their contribution toward the 80th anniversary. The Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of GBC, Ms. Eunice Obeng Yeboah who received the items expressed profound gratitude to Nananom for the kind gestures and pledged that the Kintampo sub-station will be completed. For his part, the Chief of the Wangara Community, Nana Fanyinama trace the history of Kintampo, saying in 1830, Kintampo was not part of Brong-Ahafo Region. He pointed out that Kintampo was the first capital of Northern territory and later became part of Western Ashanti. Nana Fanyinama said after Ghana’s independence, the First President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah created Brong-Ahafo and Kintampo became part of the Brong-Ahafo Region. Nana Fanyinama showed the GBC team a Visitors’ Book displaying the names and signatures of all dignitaries who have visited Kintampo from 1830 to date. At the Kintampo the Water Falls, most of the workers of GBC, had the pleasure of swimming and dancing as well as making new friends. Two staff of GBC Sunyani, Victor Nyanteng and Kingsley Effah were very much impressed about the beautiful scenery at the falls but appealed to the Kintampo Municipal Assembly to improve on the infrastructure development at the site.
