The community library which was built in 2013 with funding from Cambridge University seeks to provide students of the area with resources in terms of reading to help improve the academic performance of students in the area. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Professor George Oduro said over the year’s performance of students in the BECE especially in English and Mathematics is nothing to write home about. He said it is for this and other reasons that his family decided to solicit for funds in stocking the library with more learning materials. Professor George Oduro also expressed worry about the lack of volunteerism and patriotism among Ghanaians. For his part, the Odikro of Agona Asafo, Nana Yamfo Asuako, said education is the key to unlocking opportunities and thanked Zenith Bank and the Oduro family for the kind gesture. He therefore called on citizens of the community to also assist in getting an ICT center as an attachment to the library. GBC
