Heavy security deployed to South Africa High commission in Accra Heavy security have been deployed to the South Africa High commission in Accra to quell possible reprisal attacks following the xenophobic attacks on some African migrants including some Ghanaians in that country. Reports say some police armored vehicle, fire service truck and police pickup truck monitoring activities in the street. Meanwhile, reports from South Africa say more police officers are being deployed to informal settlements and hostels across Gauteng as well as in Johannesburg's in the evenings, as most of the xenophobic violence occurs late in the night. Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini who confirmed this said more than 30 people have been arrested overnight in Thokoza informal settlement in the East Rand and Cleveland, east of Johannesburg, for public violence, malicious damage to property, house breaking and theft. Six people have died this week and thousands have been displaced as hostility between some locals and foreigners escalated in Durban and Johannesburg. GBC
