Contractors threaten to sue Government over unpaid ‘debts’

Contractors who worked on cocoa roads in 2012 have decided to take government to Court for failing to pay them for work they did three years ago. 

Government owes the over three hundred contractors about 100 million Ghana Cedis, apart from the interest being accrued.  

According to the contractors, many of them have had to lay off workers, with some having their houses sold by their bankers to defray debts owed the banks.

They said they used different avenues to get government to pay them but those proved futile and they believe the court is the only option. 

The contractors took the decision at a meeting held in Accra to express their grievances.
