Survey shows half of the people affected by TB are alcoholics A survey conducted on the prevalence of TB indicates that half of the people affected are alcoholics. The Head of the National TB Programme, Dr. Frank Bonsu said alcohol is a risk factor to the disease as it worsens the condition of patients. Dr. Frank Bonsu at a meeting to finalise a national strategic plan to deal with the disease said more than 50 percent of people with TB sought treatment from public hospitals but the X'Ray machines could not detect the disease.
