Health providers rescind decision to implement cash and carry Service providers under the National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, have rescinded their decision to charge subscribers of the scheme. This follows a promise by the NHIA to settle their indebtedness to the health service providers within two months. The Ghana Health Service and other private health providers threatened to withdraw their services to NHIS card holders due to non-payment of their claims for seven months. An emergency meeting called by the Ministry of Health, the NHIA and service providers following the threat reached a consensus. The Public Relations Officer at the Health Ministry, Tony Goodman, in an interview with Radio Ghana said the agreement reached with the health service providers will be carried through. He said despite challenges with the scheme, the Ministry is committed to ensuring its success.
