TB prevalence high and currently stands at 264 cases per 100,000 persons

The prevalence of Tuberculosis in Ghana currently stands at 264 cases per one hundred thousand persons.

This, the WHO, defines as a burden for the country and requires that every person is tested for TB on arrival at a health facility.

A survey conducted by the Ghana Health Service revealed that current diagnostic approach which is a microscopic procedure is no longer effective therefore government needs to acquire more sophisticated gadgets to deal with early detection of TB cases.

The Programme Manager at the National Strategic Plan Dr. Frank Bonsu disclosed this at the commemoration of this year's World TB Day in Accra.
