NDC reacts to Bawumia's assertions The running mate of the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the power outages affecting the country is as a result of Ghana's indebtedness to the West African Gas Company. He said Ghana could have avoided the IMF bailout if prudent measures had been adopted by government to ensure fiscal discipline. Speaking at the Distinguished Speaker series organised by the Central University College at Miotso near Prampram, Dr. Bawumia noted that until measures are put in place to cut down on government borrowing the IMF package will not have any positive impact on the economy. Reacting to Dr. Bawumia's assertions, a member of the NDC Communications team, Abdul Hakim Ahmed says the economy is in a recovery state adding that government's borrowings are being channeled into the productive sectors of the economy. Speaking on Radio Ghana, Mr. Ahmed said parts of the statements can create anxiety to reduce investor confidence in and outside the country. GBC
