Water Day Symposium - Dr. Afia Zakiye Statistics show that over nineteen thousand Ghanaians including five thousand one hundred children under five die from diarrhea each year. Out of this number, ninety percent is directly attributed to poor water, sanitation and hygiene. This shows the dire effects of lack of potable water and the need to ensure that people have access to quality water especially women and children. The Chief Executive of Water Aid Ghana, Dr. Afia Zakiye, made this analysis at a symposium in Accra to commemorate this year’s World Water Day. GBC
