The Ghanaian Times urges government to maintain the ban on overland importation of rice and strengthen the borders to curtail the smuggling of the produce. The paper believes due to the activities of the smugglers, the country is unable to determine the exact quantity of rice imports into the country which it describes as regrettable. The Times says as a country it is important that vital statistics and information on all exports and imports are kept for proper planning and development. 

The Daily Graphic says Ghana has been blessed with many sources of water for drinking, agricultural industrial and other commercial purposes. However, over the years most of Ghana's fresh water resources have been polluted as a result of human activities such as illegal mining, defecation at  beaches and pumping of industrial and chemical waste into water sources. The paper says as a result of this, the country's water treatment plants face imminent closure and the country is gradually heading to the point of water scarcity. The paper therefore urges the government to activate all policies and laws that have already been formulated to protect the country’s water resources.
