GBC observing the month of March as heritage month  

As part of GBC’s observation of March as Heritage month, Radio Central in Cape Coast has been finding out from experts the components of a country’s heritage.  

Speaking on the Central Morning Show in Cape Coast, the Director of the Tourism and Advocacy Research Centre of the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Kwaku Boakye commended GBC for observing the month of March as heritage month.  

He said a country’s heritage is its total way of life, which includes how the people greet, what they eat, wear, their beliefs and how they govern themselves.   

Dr. Boakye said tourism plays an important role in revenue generation if the natural endowments of that country are properly managed.  

He cited the house of the British author, William Shakespeare as an example of a tourist site that brings about six million tourists to the UK every year.  

Dr. Boakye was of the view that if Ghana develops her tourist sites across the country, the sector could be a major revenue earner for the nation.
