Otumfuo urges traditional leaders to develop the spirit of patriotism in their subjects


The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu has urged especially traditional leaders to develop the spirit of patriotism among their subjects to bring the needed development to their traditional areas. 

According to him, the true self-help spirit exhibited by the country’s forebears is gradually fading from the society, giving way to individualism that does not augur well for national development.
 
Otumfuo Osei Tutu therefore challenged traditional authorities to revive the self-help virtue through initiating development projects to augment government efforts in addressing numerous challenges confronting the country. 

The Asantehene made the call at a durbar to inaugurate a new school block, library/ ICT centre, a 30 seater Aqua Privy Water closet and district police headquarters, all at Domeabra in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of Ashanti. 

Radio Ghana's reporter Razak Baba reports that the inauguration of the projects, initiated by the chief of the town, Nana Kusi Oboadum, coincided with the first anniversary of his reign. 

Otumfuo Osei Tutu urged the Domeabra community to establish a special fund for the periodic maintenance of these projects. 

He charged especially police personnel who will be posted to the new police station to be proactive in the discharge of their constitutional duty with no interference from any quarters, particularly traditional rulers and politicians. 

Otumfuo Osei Tutu reminded them that the construction of the district police is as a result of public outcry against the activities of criminals and asked them to reciprocate the gesture by discharging their duties diligently. 

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan said modern policing is a shared responsibility. 

He therefore urged residents of Domeabra and surrounding communities to join hands with the Police Administration to bring the needed security to the door steps of every Ghanaian. 

The IGP noted with concern that the infrastructure deficit of the Police Service is so high, in spite of Government logistical support to the institution over the years. It therefore behoves the public to lend continued support in this direction. 

The chief of Domeabra, Nana Kusi Oboadum announced that the traditional council has instituted a 15 year development plan to ensure the accelerated development of the area. He urged the Domeabra community to rally behind him to succeed in his endeavor.
