Kpone Demo: 7 Policemen injured

Seven Police Officers at the Tema Regional Police command are reported injured following yesterday's demonstration by angry residents of Kpone in the Greater Accra Region. 

Dozens of the demonstrators were also reported injured when the police shot rubber bullets into the crowd. 

The Public Relations Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command, ASP Juliana Obeng said the angry youth threatened to burn down the Sunni- Asogli Power Plant because they have not benefited from the project. 

They also demanded the dismissal of some persons from the Kpone traditional council for their involvement in the indiscriminate sale of lands which the angry youth claim was affecting their livelihood.

ASP Juliana Obeng said the demonstration turned violent which forced the Police to use what she described as reasonable force to disperse the crowd.
