University Students Association gives two week ultimatum for 40GHC levy scrap 

The University Students Association of Ghana has given the Ministry of Education and the National Service Secretariat (NSS) a two week ultimatum to scrap the 40 Ghana cedis levy on all prospective National Service Personnel (NSP).

The Association believes the 40 Ghana cedis levy is not important and is likely to prevent students from doing the service.

The General Secretary of the Association, Sammy Darkwa in an interview with Radio Ghana said Ghanaian students are ready to use peaceful and constitutional means to express their displeasure.

Meanwhile, the National Service Secretariat reacting to the students concern said the 40 Ghana cedis levy is not a new initiative.

He said the students are only being asked to pay up front.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSS Armbrose Entsiwah said the move is meant to ensure efficiency in the running of the service.

He encouraged students to pay for the smooth take-off of the process.
