UN Chief denounces "Brutal" killing of Russian opposition leader 


The "brutal killing" of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov in Moscow on Friday has been denounced by the UN Chief.

Ban Ki-moon released a statement expressing "shock" over the slaying.

According to media reports, the politician was gunned down by an unidentified attacker in a car.

Boris Nemtsov, a former deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation in the 1990s, was reportedly shot and killed as he crossed a bridge near the Kremlin.

An investigation into the murder has been announced.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he expected the perpetrators to be brought to justice swiftly and offered his deepest condolences to Mr. Nemtsov's family, friends and supporters.
