Aspiring Assembly member shot dead in Wa 

A 42 year old aspiring Assembly member in the Upper West Region, Robert Saliah Mitaanye has been shot dead by unknown assailants.  

The deceased who was contesting for the Assembly Member position in the Egu electoral area in the Wa West District, was found dead last night at a spot between Charia and Egu, when he was returning to Wa.  

Confirming the incident to GBC's Radio Ghana at Wa, the Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent, Daniel Kwantwi said, the Police had a wireless message and quickly mobilized and went to the scene where the victim was found lying dead in a pool of blood.  

He said the police came across one empty cartridge shell, a motor bike and a helmet belonging to the deceased.  

Mr Kwantwi said, the police have begun investigating the incident and no arrest has been made yet. 

The Crime Officer added that the body has been deposited at the Regional Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
