Avram Grant takes over national teams as technical director Black Stars coach, Avram Grant, is set to take up the role of technical director of all the national teams, a responsibility which begins with the Black Satellites in next month’s African Youth Championship (AYC) in Senegal. Grant’s new mandate was confirmed by Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice-president, Fred Crentsil, in an interview with Graphic Sports. According to Mr Crentsil, Grant, who led the Stars to the final of the just ended African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea, was expected to arrive in the country this week before travelling to the Senegal to assist coach Sellas Tetteh in a technical role at the championship. “Avram Grant is the technical head of all the national teams and will begin that role with the Black Satellites in Senegal next month.” “This new role is to correct elapses of the various national teams during international competitions, by making available to the coaches his vast acumen and experience in the sport,” explained Mr Crentsil. He noted that, the Satellites, who won the continental title thrice in 1993, 1999 and 2009, have been tasked by the GFA to win the March 8-22 tournament and qualify for this year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup as African champions.
