Mixed reactions from MP's on State of the Nation Address 

As characteristic of state of the nation address, the Majority NDC and Minority NPP have reacted differently to the State of the Nation Address presented by President Mahama to Parliament. 

Whiles MP’s from the majority caucus of parliament applauded the President for presenting the true state of the nation, especially on efforts the government is making to address the energy crisis and the numerous on-going development projects and programmes inspite of the economic challenges prevailing in the country, the minority say the president paid lip service to the challenges of the nation.
 
The majority leader, Alban Bagbin says the message is exactly what the nation needs now. 

He praised the president for taking the bull by the horn in terms of tackling the energy crisis.

The MP for Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah says President Mahama wasn’t truthful in his account of the fisheires sector.
 
In a related development the Minority NPP MPs wore black attire with red ties and red arm bands to register their displeasure over the energy crisis and the prevailing harsh economic conditions.

The MP's also for the first time since 1993, sat quietly and listened attentively throughout the President's presentation of the State of the Nation Address.
