CPP Activists demand immediate return of all party assets confiscated by the state 


Activists of the Convention People's Party CPP are demanding the immediate return of all party assets confiscated by the state following the February 24, 1966 coup which overthrew Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, founder of the CPP and Ghana's first president.
 
Dr Nkrumah was seen as practicing a one party system and all assets of the party were seen as belonging to the state.
 
But since the advent of the fourth republic and with the rebirth of the CPP, it has demanded all governments to return to it all its seized assets but to no avail.

Among a host of the confiscated assets are the party's offices in all regional capitals and Asamankese as well as the Ministry of Information building which used to be the party's headquarters. 

Today the youth wing of the party organised picketing at the Obra spot circle, in Accra as yet another action to mount pressure on the government to release the assets. 

When Radio Ghana got to the Ministry of Information which is the main target of the CPP activists, there was none of them around the building.
 
There were however, police personnel detailed to provide security to the building and its occupants.
