North Carolina: Mother of four wins lottery

A single mother of four, including one with cerebral palsy, is claiming her share of a five hundred and 64 million dollar, Powerball jackpot.

Marie Holmes, 26, of North Carolina, bought one of three winning tickets, worth 127 million dollars.

Ms Holmes bought 10 tickets for the draw earlier this month and won one. She said the best part of winning was being able to provide for her children.

At a news conference where she was presented with a cheque, Ms Holmes said she plans to donate part of it to her church, travel, complete her university degree and buy her mother a house.

She said when she realised that she had the winning numbers she started screaming and jumping around.

Two other winning tickets for the Powerball draw were bought in Puerto Rico and Texas.

The Puerto Rico winner has decided to stay anonymous while no one has come forward in Texas.
