Ghana Launches Sentencing Guidelines

The cry of many Ghanaians over how the judiciary metes out harsh sentences on petty offenders and low sentences for major offences is over.

The Judicial Service has launched a manual that will streamline its sentencing regime.

The Guideline will assist judges and magistrates in handing out sentences to ensure uniformity in justice delivery.

The Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood who launched the Ghana Sentencing Guidelines in Accra decried the overcrowding at the various prisons.
