Matilda Amissah-Arthur donates to New Abirem Government Hospital Wife of the Vice President, Matilda Amissah-Arthur, says the Ministries have a tall list of responsibilities, therefore other corporate entities and philanthropists will always be needed to help solve societal problems. She made the point at the New Abirem Government Hospital in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region where she made a presentation to the Women and Children’s Ward. Mrs. Amissah-Arthur said, her vision is simply to put smiles on the faces of the children, adding that taking care of children is difficult therefore special time and devotion need to be attached to them. The items she presented to the Ward included baskets of fruits, crates of assorted canned soft drinks, boxes of biscuits, cartons of bottled water and packaged gift bags. Mrs.Amissah-Arthur also visited the Ntronang Presbyterian Basic School also in the Birim North District where she presented ten laptop computers, library books to the school and cartons of bottled water to the teachers. She noted that, government will always do its bit to enhance education and therefore asked parents to do their part as stakeholders in educating their wards. The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Frimpong, said Mrs. Amissah-Arthur is a humanitarian, a philanthropist and a mother who has the welfare of her children at heart and has touched the lives of people in various ways. She commended her for the gesture and asked her to do same for the Ntronang Catholic Basic School. Madam Frimpong also commended Newmont for its continuous support and assistance to the New Abirem Government Hospital and asked authorities of the company to help construct a Children’s Ward for the facility.
