First tranche of IMF bailout to get to Ghana soon Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Finance, James Avedzi says the first tranche of the IMF bailout will get to Ghana immediately the necessary documents are signed. Speaking on Behind the News, Mr Avedzi said the bailout will assist the country financially and technically to stabilize the economy. He however said at the end of the bailout period, Ghana must work out appropriate policies so as not to get to a situation where it has to go back to the IMF for further bailouts. A former Deputy Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Kwaku Agyeman Manu said Ghana has reached a situation where it is asking IMF for a bailout because of mismanagement on the part of government. He said the bailout will only stabilise the economy. A senior lecturer at the University of Cape Coast business school, Dr John Gati said Ghana should be enthused about the IMF bailout because it will provide the platform to stabilise the economy and help reduce the inflation rate.
