NPP Supports National Sanitation Exercise The New Patriotic Party, (NPP), says it will support any initiative that promotes a clean Ghana. The Party is therefore calling on all residents of the Northern Region to come out and clean the environment on Saturday, which has been declared a National Sanitation Day. A press statement signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the Party, Sule Salifu, said most diseases recorded at health centres across the nation are sanitation related and called on Ghanaians to change their attitude towards sanitation. The statement noted that the National Sanitation Day instituted by President John Dramani Mahama is not receiving the necessary patronage as a result of low publicity and politicisation calling for a non-partisan campaign. The NPP urged government to resource state institutions mandated to ensure proper sanitation to enable them to play their roles more effectively. It also appealed to the authorities to pay all outstanding debts owed waste management companies to enable them to discharge their duties efficiently. GBC
