Loretta Vanderpuye - GBC24 Loretta Vanderpuye is an experienced Broadcast Journalist and Television News Reader with Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC 24 Channel. She has specialization in environment, migration, women and children’s issues. She is creative with communication skills gained from academic study at both the diploma, fellowship and international course levels and has Masters in Public Administration. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Loretta first begun working in the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation from 1989 as a Television continuity announcer. Then in 1993 she was transferred to the (GTV NEWSROOM) where she rose through the ranks and is now an Editor-In-Chief. As an Editor-In-Chief she is responsible for performing GBC TV news managerial work. She heads a team to produce live news bulletins and also coordinates news from regions , She is also responsible for determining what news is, for the day and assigning teams to cover the news. She has also specialized in the production of T.V. news, features and documentaries, on Health, Environment, Migration, rights of vulnerable groups, especially women, children and people with disability. AWARDS In 2002 Loretta won CNN African Environmental Journalist of the year. In 2007 she won the Ghana Journalism Association award for Best in News Reporting(TV) In 2008 she won two awards: The Ghana Journalism Association award for Best in News Reporting (TV) and Best reporter on Disability Issues. She also received the OKYIMAN KANEA award in 2008, given by the Akyim Abuakwa Traditional Council . INTERNATIONAL EVENTS COVERED Loretta is also a CAMJO/Camera Journalist . This she learnt at the Radio Netherlands Training Centre (RNTC). The Training was on Migration and Internet Journalism. where she gained a fellowship. With this experience she has covered various international conferences as a Camera Journalist/CAMJO, that is working with the camera, sound and lighting work and sending her stories back to her office on the same day.
