Emergency Power Barges Expected In Accra In April To Address Energy Crisis Ghanaians will have to contend with the energy crisis until April when the emergency power to address the situation arrives. A way to fast track this process is when the ECG signs a purchasing agreement and pays a commitment fee by next week. The Minister of Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor who briefed the media in Accra said the current unregulated power schedule is as a result of power inadequacies due to low water level in the Akosombo Dam, malfunctioning and retrofitting of some power generating equipment. Meanwhile checks at some cold stores in Accra indicate that operators are running at a loss, due to persistent power outage. Operators say they are compelled to reduce the prices of stocks in bad condition, to reclaim some money. Others say, they are left with no choice than to throw out everything because of an entire rotten stock. GBC
