President Mahama Directs Decoupling Of Economic Planning Functions From Finance Ministry President John Dramani Mahama has directed the decoupling of economic planning functions from the Ministry of Finance. This is to strengthen development management by linking plans with budgets as mandated by the National Development Planning Commission, NDPC. With the President's directive, the Commission takes over the economic planning functions of the state. The Director General of the NDPC, Dr Nii Moi Thompson, who welcomed the idea, said all Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Assemblies, must work with the Commission to align their plans with national development priorities before they are funded by the Ministry of Finance.
