AFCON 2015: Ghana vs South Africa The senior national team, the Black Stars, have the final chance today, to prove critics wrong as they face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the round up to the quarter finals of the AFCON tournament. The Mongomo stadium will be the deciding grounds as the two African greats struggle against each other to make it to the next stage. The Black Stars will have to step up their game to beat the Bafana Bafana for the first time in an AFCON tournament. South Africa, on the other hand need a win tonight and hope that Senegal beat Algeria to take them through to the quarter finals. At the new Malabo stadium, Senegal is expected to play a good game to go past Algeria. Though Senegal is leading Group C with four points, Algeria side will not be an easy side to beat considering their impressive play in the tournament so far. A sports analyst, Karl Tuffour says the Black Stars will not have it easy against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in tonight's quarter finals qualifier. To him, the South Africans have put up an impressive performance in the tournament so far and will not be complacent as they face an equally tough side like Ghana. He said though the Black Stars have a chance to make it to the next stage, much needs to be done. South African coach, Ephraim Mashaba, is holding on to the hope that his team can qualify for the knockout stages of the African Cup of Nations as they lock horns in a crunch decider with Ghana’s Black Stars this evening. Meanwhile, the Black stars of Ghana have specialised in late drama in their first two games, though in the opening fixture against Senegal, it was a script with an unhappy ending. Ghana, which has reached at least the semi-finals of the last four Afcon tournaments, delivered a late twist through skipper Asamoah Gyan, scoring a late goal against Algeria. Radio Ghana’s correspondents took to the streets of Bolgatanga to gauge expectations on today’s titanic encounter. Many are hopeful that Ghana is going to outwit the South Africans and qualify to the knockout stage of the tournament.
