AFCON 2015: We deserved to beat Algeria - Grant


Avram Grant has heaped praise on his team for what he has called a deserved victory against Algeria in their Group C match at the AFCON tournament.

The Black Stars picked up their first three points of the tournament with a last gasp goal courtesy captain Asamoah Gyan, which has thrown Group C wide open.

"I think we deserved the victory. We were better than Algeria in the second half especially", Grant told allsports.com.gh after the match.

"Remember they are the number one ranked nation in Africa so you can imagine that I am happy."

Grant also explained his reasons for substituting midfielder Afriyie Acquah and going for a more attacking approach.

"Appiah played very well, was one of our best players. We decided from the beginning to put one more attacking player in there if the game would go like we want."

"Since we did that we could control the game, and it was a team effort that saw us through."
