Suspended CHRAJ Commissioner breaks silence

The suspended Commissioner of Human Rights and Administrative Justice, CHRAJ, Lauretta Vivian Lamptey, has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding her accommodation leading to her suspension.

Madam Lamptey maintains she has done nothing wrong, insisting that the decision to rent a private accommodation was not hers but that of the Commission.

She said though the amount spent on her rentals might seem huge, it was reasonable looking at the conditions prevailing at the Commission before she assumed office.

Madam Lamptey also defended her decision not to voluntarily step aside after the Chief Justice had established a prima facie case against her.

She said although she respects the decision of the Chief Justice, she feels disappointed.

On the image of the Commission, Madam Lamptey said she has brought some integrity to the Commission.

According to her, if the image of the Commission should be affected in any way it is not by her actions but rather the media frenzy.
