The Daily Graphic bemoans the nation's loss in the inferno that engulfed the Central Medical Stores in Tema last Tuesday. The paper says it is no secret that the security of the facility and the medicines kept there were compromised. It is not happy that Ghanaians will now bear the brunt of the shortage of much needed medicines. The Graphic finds it more disturbing the blame game that has started between the Ghana Fire Service and the Ghana Water Company over who owns and manages the many fire hydrants dotted across the country. The paper says such unnecessary blame games always end up shifting the focus of the country from the main issues. The Graphic says the two state institutions must stop the blame game now, as passing the buck will in no way help find lasting remedies to the many maladies of the nation.
 
The Today Newspaper calls on Ghanaians especially leaders to promote political cohesion. The paper points out that the interest of the people must be the main focus in nation building where leaders look beyond their personal interest and put the nation first.
 
The Ghanaian Times whips up interest in the District Assembly Elections as the nation goes to the polls in March. It says the lack of voter enthusiasm is as a result of the poor performance on the part of District Assemblies. The media have also been blamed for not educating the people enough on the local level elections. It is against this backdrop that the Times supports the call by the Chairman of the National Media Commission, Kabral Blay-Amihere on the media to give the upcoming District Assembly Elections the necessary publicity.
