Drivers defy GPRTU's warning to reduce fares

The GPRTU says it has prepared the price list for the 5% reduction in transport fares. 

With this, drivers have started charging the new fares which is across board.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the General Secretary of GPRTU, Alhaji Aliyu Baba, said recalcitrant drivers who do not comply will face two weeks suspension from the Union.

Alhaji Baba also called on other stakeholders especially Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies not to issue road permit to drivers who do not belong to any union.

According to him, that will help the GPRTU to check recalcitrant drivers.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that drivers have defied the Ghana Private Road Transport Union's warning to reduce fares.
